Lich Way Walk

Join the Lydford Lich Way Walk on Sunday June 2nd

Starts at Bellever Forest car park, ol28 SX656771(£5.00) at 0930.

Note this is a linear walk so arrangements need to be made to have a car at the finish at Lydford as well. Car park opposite the Castle Inn, at SX 510847 (£5.30)

Walk the historic “Way of the Dead” from Bellever to Lydford. 12 mile linear walk across Dartmoor, passing Powder Mills, Longaford and Lydford Tors, Water crossings at West Dart weir, Broad Hole, Walkham. Lunch at Baggator then down past Coffin Wood, along the Tavy, crossing at Standon Steps Bridge (NOT Catalloo stepping stones!) to cross Willsworthy and enter Lydford via HIgher Beardon Farm, under the viaduct and Silver Street.

We finish at the Nicholl’s Hall, Lydford for well-earned tea and cakes (donations welcome).

The walk can be finished at Baggator, after the 8-mile moorland crossing (transport from here required) or started here for the last 4-mile easier stretch back to Lydford (again transport required).

This is a moderate to strenuous (only the full 12 miles) walk but gives the chance to walk this historic way and choose how far you wish to go. It is a shared walk with Lydford community, Okehampton and Tavistock Ramblers and in the past has attracted around 40 walkers.

True Dartmoor vistas with some refreshments at lunch and tea at the end!

12, 8 or 4 miles.

Please  book your place by contacting either Paul Brookes, 07969 592779   paul@burleyview.co.uk or Adrian Brook on 01837 861580 ajbrook2020@outlook.com or Howard Barkell on  01822 820272  the.barkells@btopenworld.com

Similarly, we would love to hear from anybody who can offer any kind of help. If you cannot walk then perhaps you could help with car transport at the start to take walkers to Bellever and/or Baggator or refreshments at Baggator? We normally arrive back at the Nicholls Hall for a welcoming cuppa and cake so help with this would always be appreciated. Road marshalls are always useful at the Beardon Crossing too please.
