Funding offers – July 2025

There are only a couple of possible sources this month, relating to energy savings for charities and to funding for Duke of Edinburgh provision. There are time constraints relating to the National Grid offer, so if it’s relevant – you’ll have to be quick!

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED)via their Community Matters Fund, is offering grants to help improve or reduce your energy use and bills, which could be used to purchase items including insulation, heating controls, glazing, LED lighting, and more. NGED is also making funding available to organisations promoting sustainable transport, such as active transport schemes, cycling racks and electric car charging points, as well as groups providing expert education and advice on sustainability, renewable energy, and retrofitting. Projects delivering long-term and measurable impact, for example evidenced via energy bills, carbon footprint or energy ratings, are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applications must meet the following criteria to be considered for funding:

  • Funding must be spent by 28th November 2025
  • Project must be delivered by 28th November 2025
  • If the applying organisation has previously been funded via the Community Matters Fund, they must have completed their project and returned any outstanding monitoring reports.
  • Organisations that have already received funding in 2025 from the Community Matters Fund are not eligible to apply
  • Schools and other statutory bodies are not eligible to apply

What is available:

  • Up to £5,000 for registered charities or not-for-profit companies (limited by guarantee)
  • Up to £2,000 for constituted community organisations without a charity number

Applications are now open but the deadline is 5pm on Friday 1 August 2025, so there’s only a short window to apply! All organisations who submit a complete application will be informed of the outcome by 1st September 2025.

Need help with D of E

https://www.dofe.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/AWL_Community_External-Guidance_Dec2024.pdf

“As young people face up to today’s challenges, we know the DofE has never been needed more. In line with our strategy, Youth Without Limits, we are committed to ensuring that DofE is open to all young people and that our participants reflect the most diverse generation of young people ever. To break down barriers to participation, we are offering funding to Voluntary and Community Organisations (VCOs) to establish a sustainable DofE offer, through support from the Julia Rausing Trust. This funding is now open for applications. With the generous support of our donors, the fund offers grant funding of up to £10,250 for eligible voluntary and community organisations to set up and deliver the DofE, including the enrolment costs for marginalised young people across the UK.”
