Scarecrow Trail and Free Scarecrow Making Workshop – Join the fun and/or donate items
Lydford Scarecrow trail – join this community event and put your scarecrows out from 9th August onwards. (They need to be in place on 23rd and 24th August to enter the competition and Ellie needs to know ASAP if you’re planning on putting a scarecrow out, so she can put it on the map.)
To help you we’re putting on a FREE workshop on Saturday 9th August so there’s no excuse not to join the fun. Drop-in between 10am & 4pm to make a scarecrow or two (allow a couple of hours). We’ll have some materials (straw and canes are being supplied) but please do bring along some things or donate items if you can’t make one.
We need:
– Clothes, hats, shoes
– Accessories, wigs, armour etc
– Plain pillowcases (to make heads)
– Marker pens, wool, buttons
Drop in donations at Downtown farm any time.
Need some inspiration?
Characters from films, children’s books and TV, historical figures, famous people, different professions or make an animal or fictional creature.
A bride & groom outside the church, a Norman soldier at The Castle, a farmer, a beekeeper, a footballer for the Lydford Foxes….
How to Enter
It’s £3 to take part, and a map will cost £1 so you can vote for the winner…there’s prizes too!

Route: from the top of school lane, Hawthorn Park, Silver Street, round to the Ancient Spring and down to the Church. If your house isn’t on the route don’t worry, we can find space somewhere for you.
