The council has been in contact with Better Housing Better Health a local charity who work with people who might be in need of advice on their energy uses at home. They can help residents who might otherwise be at risk of living in fuel poverty to access advice and support.

Their website contains a deal of information as well as the facility to get help via a phoneline or webchat. https://www.bhbh.org.uk/

There will be no post office service in the Nicholls Hall on Tuesday 9th and 16th September.

Nicholls Hall Tearoom Open September 13th for Archangels’ Way Walk

Anyone can drop into the Nicholls Hall pop-up tearoom in Lydford between 1 – 4pm on Saturday 13th September.

Menu: Homemade sausage rolls, savory scones, cake, cream teas.

The Bar will be open.

Card payments accepted and we’ll behaved dogs welcome.

Lydford Fair 2025

Next year’s Lydford Summer Fair will take place on Saturday, July 5^th 2025 at the Lydford Sports Field. This will be a traditional village fair and we anticipate lots of fun, food and entertainment for all. The event has been split into 7 areas each with one responsible person who will be key to making the event a success. We hope to build on previous year’s successful fairs and also add a few new items this time. The following people have volunteered to lead key areas and we are very grateful for their commitment:

Entrance Gate and Parking – Steve Hulett
Barbeque/Food – Paul Brookes
Tea Room – Diane Brookes
Stallholders/IT – Jonathan Gilpin
Bar/Alcohol – Mick Jones
Evening Entertainment – vacant
Treasurer and Coordinator – Richard Hollingsworth

All proceeds raised from the Summer Fair will go to the Lydford Sports Field Charity which looks after the sports field, the building and the children’s play park. The charity relies on events like this and does not receive any direct funding from any sources. The Summer Fair is by far the greatest contributor to supporting future year’s maintenance of the field for the Lydford Foxes, the building and play equipment. Different usage for a small area of the land is also being considered.

Further volunteers will be needed in all the above areas and they will be involved on the day of the Fair itself and, in some cases a short time before and after too. At present, we also need to find a person to lead the evening entertainment which usually involves finding a suitable band(s) and organising whatever is decided for the evening event.

Committed to supporting local farmers and food producers, it stocks a wide range of vegetables, meat and dairy products, from the surrounding area. It also sells homemade pasties, sausage rolls and pies, using beef from Marcia and her husband’s family farm.
