PRIZES

Sunday Lunch at The Castle Inn, Lydford, to the value of £60

£50 voucher for The Dartmoor Inn, Lydford.

£15 voucher for Okehampton Toy Shop

ENTRY

£3 per scarecrow/group of scarecrows made by the same household.

Free entry for under 12s.

WHEN

Scarecrows can be put out at any time from the 15^th August onwards, but if you wish to take part in the competition, they must be in place by 9am on Saturday 29^th August.

THEME

A character/group of characters from a book.

HOW TO ENTER

You must register and pay for your entry before 9pm on Thursday 27^th August with either Bekki T: 07949870812 Or Ellie T:01822 820210.

Scarecrows should be placed in visible places on or safely near your property. If you don’t have somewhere to place a scarecrow or live somewhere it won’t be seen by many people, we can place it for you.

COMPETITION Prizes will be awarded for:

Best scarecrow

Best Scarecrow Runner up

Best scarecrow made by an under 12

Lydford Fair 2025

We are pleased to be able to announce that The Vikings, The dog show and the falconry show will all be present again at this years fair. Evening entertainment will be provided by the The Smokin’ Pilchards

Next council meeting

The parish council meets as scheduled on Tuesday 12th November at 7.00 pm in the Nicholls Hall. It would be lovely to see members of the parish there to contribute to discussions and give their opinions.

Councillors have been asked to take a view on –

Affordable housing in the village, the 20’s Plenty campaign on controlling traffic speeds in the village, the future maintenance of the village playground and the proposed erection of a mast on land at Willsworthy. This is also the time of year when the council must begin to decide on budget priorities for next year.

Pub Walk fundraiser

The pub walk will be taking place this Saturday the 13th, finishing at Lydford Sports Field with music and a good night out. Register at Bridestowe Village Hall for a 2pm start.

Exhibition of artwork by local artists.

There will be an exhibition of artwork by local artists on Saturday 24th to Monday 26th August 10am til 4pm in the Nicholls Hall. (Free Entry)

Accompanied by the Lydford Village Jumble Trail on Saturday 11am till 3pm

6th July Village Event

Unfortunately the organisers of the village fair decided they were unable deliver the fair this year. However, the Foxes football team have organised a BBQ and refreshments for everyone to come and socialise on the day. Please come and bring a picnic or buy something from the BBQ and mingle. Lydford Lich Way Walk June 2, 2024

Please book your places on the Lich way walk as soon as possible.
A coach has been arranged by a Ramblers group but it is virtually full now. Would anyone else want to use a minibus for the trip to Bellever at £10 per head? If there are sufficient numbers then another could be booked but at least 16 will be required.
