The Granite Way cycle path is 11 miles long and stretches from Okehampton to Lydford. It is very easy going as it takes the route of a disused branch of the Great western railway which was used for Steam trains and is therefore quite flat. It is traffic free and offers great views of the Devon countryside. The cycle path is part of the National Cycle Network ‘Devon Coast to Coast’ Route 27 from Ilfracombe to Plymouth.

There is a cycle hire company at the Okehampton end so you can make use of it even if you have not brought your bikes.

Facilities along route: Car parking is available at Okehampton Station, and Lydford. Refreshments available at Okehampton, Meldon and Lydford. Cycle hire at the YHA Okehampton and Devon Cycle Hire Sourton Down both based directly on the route.
