Dartmoor is a National Park with an area of 953 square kilometers (368 square miles) and 57% of it is open freely for people to explore its wild beauty. There are approximately 720 kilometres (about 450 miles) of footpaths and bridleways , which lead the visitor to high, bare, windswept outcrops of granite called tors, swirling rock-strewn rivers and fascinating stone remains left by the people who have lived on Dartmoor for the past 5000 years. |
